Splashy works from initramfs on Ubuntu Gutsy.

splashy-init will be replaced by log_end_msg() re-implementation
X detection code should be added to /etc/lsb-base-logging.sh
test to see whether we should exit splashy before gdm or when gdm calls log_end_msg
e-mail deb rc devs about short-term splash support in the /etc/rc script
for splashy 0.4.x splashy should be provided as a static build and libsplashy as part of the package (so other programs can link against it)
splashy initramfs problem needs to be debug throughly. a log of the debugging messages is needed

The first IRC meeting for Splashy was successfully held. The topic discussed was: Speeding releases and bug squashing.
In short it was agreed that:
New version scheme for releases: odd numbers for devel releases
0.2.x is our main focus, and it's a bug squash release
initramfs our main bug now, needs to be handled
switching Splashy from using a FIFO to udp port 50439 should help with that initramfs bug as well
splashy_update needs to talk to udp port 50439, and perhaps under a loop-back interface like 127.127.0.1 (completely private to splashy)
splashy_update “image foo.jpg” to change images on the fly
Splashy should obey “splash” keyword boot param (for kernel)
In addition it was agreed that a meeting will be held monthly on the second Sunday of each month at 20:00 UTC.
